William Daniels joined the Metropolitan Police on 12 October 1885, serving initially in ‘B’ (Chelsea) Division, before transferring to ‘G’ (Finsbury) Division. He was promoted Sergeant in the Criminal Investigations Department in ‘F’ (Paddington) Division by 1897, and an Inspector on ‘W’ (Clapham) Division by 1902. He retired as a Sub-Divisional Inspector in ‘X’ (Harrow Road) Division on 16 October 1911.
