Frederick Rymill was born in Sandford, Oxfordshire, and joined the Metropolitan Police on 4 April 1881. He served as a Police Constable with ‘X’ (Harrow Road) Division from 1881 to 1885; with ‘F’ (Kensington) Division, from 1885 to 1900; and with ‘D’ (Marylebone) Division from 1900 to 1907. He suffered an injured knee caused by a runaway horse in 1895. He was pensioned on 17 June 1907, but re-joined on 13 June 1911, and was posted again to ‘F’ (Kensington) Division.
