George Caine was born and lived in Birmingham. He died of wounds in France and Flanders on 13 April 1915 whilst serving with the 1st Battalion, Liverpool Regiment, and is buried in Lilliers Communal Cemetery, Pas de Calais. The Commonwealth War Graves Commission commemorate him under his real surname of ‘Edwards’, and note that ‘Caine’ was used by him as an alias.
