William George Fowler was born in Chelsea, London, and was the son of Mr and Mrs J. J. Fowler of ‘Fairoak’, New Century Road, Laindon, Essex. He was awarded the Territorial Force Efficiency Medal in July 1910, and served during the Great War with the 3rd London Field Company, Royal Engineers. Having advanced to Sergeant, Fowler died of wounds whilst serving on the Western Front, 13 March 1915.
Sergeant Fowler is buried in the Ypres Town Cemetery Extension, Belgium.
