George Wallace served during the Second World War as an Air Gunner with 7 Squadron, and is shown in a group air crew photograph of the Squadron taken in May 1941 at Oakington Base. He appears in the 7 Squadron records again in August 1943, when he took part in an operational sortie to Nuremberg on 27th August 1943.
Wallace was killed in action when Lancaster JA937, piloted by Flight Sergeant J. Suthurst, was lost without trace whilst on a bombing raid to Mönchengladbach, on 30-31 August 1943. He is buried in Rheinberg War Cemetery, Germany.
