Arthur Bone was born in Warnborough, Hampshire, and attested for the Hampshire Regiment at Winchester. He served with the 1st/4th Battalion during the Great War in Mesopotamia, and died of wounds on 24 February 1917, aged 24. He has no known grave and is commemorated on the Basra Memorial, Iraq.
