M.I.D. London Gazette 14 September 1943:
‘For great skill and daring in action with enemy submarines in the Atlantic whilst serving in H.M. Ships Starling, Wren, Kite, Wildgoose, Woodpecker, Oribi, Offa, Ness and Fleetwood.’
Seedie’s gives for service with H.M.S. Kite, and the destruction of U-449 in the North Atlantic, 24 June 1943.
Leonard Thomas Lang served with the Royal Navy during the Second War. Having advanced to Petty Officer, he was present when the Kite (sloop) combined with the Wren, Woodpecker and Wildgoose, managed to sink the above U-boat near Cape Ortegal, Spain.
