Charles Smith was born in Hagworthingham, Lincolnshire and served with the 7th Battalion Lincolnshire Regiment during the Great War. He was killed in action on the Western Front on 8 August 1917, and is buried in the Brown's Copse Cemetery, Roeux, France.
