Gilbert Faulkner Faulkner (formerly Abram), Lieutenant-Colonel commanding 5th Battalion, 8th Punjab Regiment, was killed in action on the North West Frontier of India on 7 December 1940, aged 43. He is commemorated by name in the Karachi War Cemetery.

Sold with named Secretary of State for Commonwealth Relations enclosure slip for Second World War medals, and a printed 8th Punjab Regiment memorial card, inscribed ‘The Faulkner Memorial In memory of Lieut: Col G. F. Faulkner an old boy of Westminster School who was killed in action on the North West Frontier of India in December 1940. Presented by his brother officers of the 8th Punjab Regiment.’

Faulkner renounced and abandoned the surname of Abram and assumed in lieu that of Faulkner by a deed dated 12 July 1936, and announced in the London Gazette of 11 August 1936.
