D.C.M. London Gazette 3 June 1919; citation 11 March 1920:

‘During the Capbrai operations, when moving the battery from Bourlon Wood to Raillencourt on the night of 28th/29th September, 1918, he distinguished himself in guiding guns over new territory and making several trips with ammunition under heavy fire.’

Wilfred Ernest Henry Hall was born at Britannia, Lancashire, on 29 January 1888, and was a plasterer by trade when he enlisted in the 37th Overseas Battery C.E.F. at Winnipeg on 18 August 1915. He arrived in England per the S.S. Missarabic on 12 March 1916, and served in France with the 38th Battery C.F.A. from 12 July 1916. He was gassed in March 1918, and was appointed Acting Battery Sergeant-Major on 19 April 1918, confirmed on 10 August 1918. He was discharged on 1 April 1919.
