James Morrison McLellan was born in March 1895, and resided at 113 McAslin Street, Townhead, Glasgow. He joined the Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve in May 1913. McLellan transferred to the Nelson Battalion, Royal Naval Division, 22 August 1914, and was Shore Demobilised, 19 February 1919.
