Andrew Brandi was born in Southwark, London in 1900, into a family of Italian ice-cream makers, and given the Christian name Andria. He attested for the Royal Sussex Regiment at Kingston-on-Thames, Surrey, and served with the 1st/4th Battalion during the Great War on the Western Front. He was killed in action on 12 September 1918 and is buried in La Laiterie Military Cemetery, France.
