Arthur Victor Thomas Elliott was born in Brighton , Sussex, in 1875 and served with the Sussex and Kent Royal Garrison Artillery (Territorial Force), being awarded his Territorial Force Efficiency Medal per Army Order 186 of 1 July 1909. He served during the Great War as a Corporal (Acting Sergeant) in the Rifle Brigade, a conflict in which 3 of his 6 brothers were killed.
