The Royal Company of Archers (The King’s Bodyguard for Scotland), a good quality archer’s green cloth Kilmarnock style headdress bearing the a fine fire-gilt KC badge mounted upon a green silk triple layered cockade this with a white silk rectangular backing, both green silk tail ribbons present, retailed by ‘J.Stewart & Son/88 George St/Edinburgh’, the crown with very slight surface moth patches and small deposits of black shellac varnish, the white silk section of the cockade frayed at the edges and the tail ribbons with slight wear and perforation otherwise very good overall condition; Volunteer Artillery, an officer’s 1878 pattern home service blue cloth helmet lacking the helmet plate but complete with all other plated fittings, retailed by Wm.Anderson & Sons/14George Street/Edinburgh’, the skull sound the cloth with slight surface mothing and three pin-head size moth holes the front peak trim with some buckling and the base of the ball-top ornament split, internally near excellent condition (2) £200-250
