Five: Lieutenant-Colonel H. Ross-Johnson, Duke of Cornwall’s Light Infantry, late Liverpool Regiment

India General Service 1854-95, 2 clasps, Burma 1885-7, Chin-Lushai 1889-90 (Lieutt., 2d L’pool. R.); 1914-15 Star (Lt. Col., L’pool. R.); British War and Victory Medals (Lt. Col.); Khedive’s Sudan 1896-1908, 1 clasp, Sudan 1899, unnamed as issued, together with a mounted set of five miniature dress medals, very fine and better (10) £450-500

Hastings Ross-Johnson was commissioned into the King’s Liverpool Regiment in May 1885 and served in the Burma expedition of 1885-87 and in the Chin-Lushai Expeditionary Force in 1889-90. He was promoted Captain in 1891 and served in the Nile Expedition of 1899 and took part in the first advance against the Khalifa. In December 1900 he was promoted Major. During the Great War he was Major, Temporary Lieutenant-Colonel in command of the 7th (Service) Battalion of the Duke of Cornwall’s Light Infantry.
