A Mr Scott’s Academy was operating in or near Stormont Street, Perth, c. 1825-40. The maker’s mark J. McK is known with an Edinburgh hallmark for the year 1828. The silversmith’s identity is not certain but there were no less than five James McKays working as silversmiths in Edinburgh in the early and mid-19th century.
