Victoria, Golden Jubilee, 1887, a gold medal by T. Brock & J. Pinches for the Imperial Institute, crowned and laureate bust left, rev. elevation of the Institute, legend in banner to left, 38mm, 28.55g (W & E 2030A.4; BHM 3226; E 1737; Taylor 221b). Minimal hairlining, better than extremely fine and extremely rare thus; housed in a contemporary fitted case £2,400-£3,000

The obverse of this medal displays an early prototype bust by Thomas Brock, later modified for the 1893 Recoinage to replace Boehm’s unpopular ‘Jubilee’ portrait.
