Samuel Johnston was born in the Parish of Shankhill, near Lurgan, county Armagh, and attested for the 65th Regimnet at Banbridge, county Down, on 4 April 1842. He served the majority of his time abroad in New Zealand, from 10 December 1845 until he was discharged at Auckland in February 1865. Sold with copy discharge papers.
