B.G.M. London Gazette 19 July 1945:
‘In recognition of gallant and distinguished services in the Field.’
Nangzing San Naw (1922-62) enlisted in the Burma Regiment at Bhamo in 1935. According to details provided by his son (accompanying letter refers), he was decorated for his bravery during a combat with Japanese troops near Kolin, when his company was surprised by a stronger force of the enemy. While some of his own men fled the scene, Nangzing San Naw engaged the enemy at close quarters, accounting for seven of their number, before making his way back to our lines with four captured guns.
