Memorial Plaque 1914-18 (Edward Lambton) extremely fine £40-60
Edward Lambton was the 5th son of Lieutenant-Colonel Francis Lambton, Scots Guards and his wife, Victoria, daughter of the 2nd Earl of Cawdor. He was born at Brownslade, Pembrokeshire on 5 February 1877 and educated at Wellington College and Cooper’s Hill. He entered the service of the Egyptian Government as director of Public Works, and for his services he was awarded the Order of Osmanieh 5th Class. He was appointed a 2nd Lieutenant in the Pembrokeshire Yeomanry in July 1909, having previously served as a Sergeant in the Volunteer Battalion Berkshire Regiment. He was especially permitted to hold a commission and to train with the cavalry quartered at Abassich, Cairo, and with his regiment when on leave in England. As a Captain in the Pembrokeshire Yeomanry he served with the Egypt Expeditionary Force from 15 March 1916, dying of double pneumonia at the Red Cross Hospital, Giza, Egypt, on 28 March 1916.
