Yates, M.A.’, Chaplain in Her Majesty’s Fleet, dated 29 October 1888; Commission appointing ‘The Reverend Arthur G. Arthur George Yates studied for Holy Orders and gained the B.A. and M.A. at Keble College, Oxford. Ordained a Deacon in 1884 and Priest in 1885, he was Curate of Tuckingmill, Cornwall, 1884-6 and Carnmenellis, Cornwall, 1886-8. He was appointed a Naval Chaplain from 1888 and Naval Instructor from 1889, serving on the Comus. 1888-92, Narcissus, 1892-3, Rodney, 1893-7 and Victorious from 1897.
