‘14 February 1874: The Hamburg brigantine Theodor, Venezuela to Falmouth, with a cargo of cotton seed and dyewoods, was blown off course at Thurlestone, South Devon; her Master and two men were lost. Mr Urell and is crew put off in the Coastguard boat and saved the Mate and two men’ (Ref. Lifeboat Gallantry, by Barry Cox). Sold with copied extract from the Institute’s Minutes.
