William Baxter was appointed Ensign in the 53rd Foot on 9 May 1811, and promoted to Lieutenant on 10 June 1813. He served with the 53rd in the Peninsula from September 1811 to February 1813, and in March and April 1814. He was later a Captain in the 30th Foot and died in 1866, at Cecil Street, Strand, London, aged 78.
