James II (1437-1460), Groat, Edinburgh, mm. cross pattée on obv. only, crowned bust in mantle, rev. cross before vi, crown in first and fourth quarters, three pellets in second and third quarters, 3.34g/1h (cf. SCBI 35, 694-5 and 698; B 1 var.; S 5231). Legend weak at 5 o’clock but very fine, rare (£550-650)
