Ex Whitaker Collection.

Lewis William de La Fargue joined the Legion on 30 June 1812. He served with General Wallmoden’s corps during the campaign in Northern Germany, 1813-14; in the Netherlands in 1814, and the campaign of 1815. He was severely wounded at Waterloo on 18 June 1815, during the advance by the first brigade of the Legion on the left of Hougoumont, during which Colonel Du Plat, who commanded the brigade, was mortally wounded. Lieutenant Fargue had to have one of his legs amputated as a result of his wounds. He died at Doesberg, Netherlands, in January 1833.
