Owen Thomas Evans was born in Hackney, London, on 11 March 1892. A Carpenter by trade, he entered the R.N.A.S. as a Probationary Air Mechanic 1st Class on 11 August 1915. Based at President II, he served at Dunkirk and Somme, from 23 August 1915 to 7 December 1917, becoming a Leading Mechanic in April 1917, Petty Officer in August 1917, a Sergeant Mechanic with the R.A.F. in April 1918, and attained the rank of Chief Mechanic in July 1918. Sold with copied service papers.
