B. Rogers was commissioned Ensign in the 68th Native Infantry, in June 1854. He advanced to Lieutenant in November 1856, and was present at Bareilly on the outbreak of the Mutiny, 31 May 1857. He served in the defence of the Kumaon Hills against rebels in 1857, and in command of a detachment of Kumaon Levy in the Robilkund and Oudh jungles, 1858-59. He was also present at the action of Rosoolpore, 16 June 1858.
