As at Dublin, the pennies of Trim were minted within the castle precincts. Trim castle was founded by the de Lacy family in 1174. Mac Conamhna, fig. 1, nos. 3 (this coin) and 5 both display a symbol which divides the mint signature and may represent the rampant lion of de Lacy. The combination at Trim of this previously unrecognised symbol with Burns bust punches A and B are given by Mac Conamhna as a diagnostic factor for pennies minted at Trim castle during 1465-7
