Believed to have been awarded to Knight’s Cross Holder General Lieutenant Walter von Hippel, Commander of Flak Regiment 202. Presentation badges of this type were reserved for ranking officers who commanded Air Defence units. von Hippel was awarded a standard Flak badge on 31 June 1943, and was presented with this special one on 5 August 1943 for having shot down between 122 and 173 enemy aircraft.
