Herbert Oakland was born and lived in Carlton, Nottinghamshire and enlisted at Nottingham. Serving with the 10th Battalion Nottinghamshire & Derbyshire Regiment, he was killed in action, France/Flanders, 18 September 1918. He was the son of Mr J. Oakland of 6 Birch Avenue, Carlton, Nottingham. With copied service papers and casualty details.
