Joseph Arthur Heyworth was born in Burnley, Lancashire in 1879 and attested for service during the Boer War with the 23rd (Lancashire) Company, Imperial Yeomanry. The medal roll extract in relation to the award of his QSA notes the incorrect second initial on his medal. He subsequently served during the Great War with the Army Service Corps and died in Nelson, Lancashire, in 1951.
