Certificate, dated 20 December 1940, this laminated; Commission appointing recipient as Lieutenant (Quarter Master), dated 23 July 1943; Commission appointing recipient as Captain (Quarter Master), dated 16 May 1947; Regular Army Certificate of Service; typed transcript of recipient’s diary whilst serving in North Africa and Italy during the Second World War, 1 January 1944 - 28 December 1944, the original of which is held by the National Army Museum; and 2 photographic images of recipient in uniform.

Edward George Pearson was born at 16 Coronation Street, Darlington, County Durham in May 1912. He enlisted in the Royal Artillery at Durham in August 1927, and served in Egypt, January - December 1938, and then with the British Expeditionary Force in France, 8 November 1939 - 15 June 1940. Pearson returned to Egypt, and served there July 1940 - May 1943. Having advanced to Warrant Officer, Pearson was commissioned Lieutenant (Quarter Master) in July 1943. Whilst serving in North Africa, Pearson was hospitalised after being involved in a car crash. He subsequently recuperated, went on to serve in Italy and advanced to Major (Q.M). He was discharged in 1947, and died at the Derby City Hospital in March 1973.
