Archibald McCrone Boyle was born in Musselburgh, Midlothian, on 24 June 1942 and attested for the Royal Army Pay Corps on 9 November 1961. Promoted Corporal on 9 November 1962, and Sergeant on 9 November 1967, he was seconded to the Royal Brunei Malay Regiment on 6 September 1973, and was promoted Staff Sergeant on 22 October 1973. Appointed Staff Quartermaster Sergeant on 22 October 1976, he was awarded his Long Service and Good Conduct Medal with gratuity on 21 March 1879, and died in service in Hameln on 28 January 1982.
