Reginald John Wilson was born in Aston, Birmingham, on 8 November 1893 and enlisted in the Royal Naval Air Service on 20 January 1915. He transferred to the Royal Air Force as a Founder Member on 1 April 1918, and was discharged to a temporary Commission on 20 September 1918.
