Eric Lawrence Wainright served with the 31st Indian Divisional Signal Company, Sappers and Miners, during the Great War on the Western Front from 16 October 1914 (also entitled to a clasp to his 1914 Star). He was subsequently commissioned as a Lieutenant into the 15th (Ludhiana) Sikhs, Indian Army, and died at Home as a consequence of the effects of gas on 15 September 1915. He is buried in Highgate Cemetery, London.
