A Skit Note with Naval Origins or Connections, for Sir Tom Bowling, Jack Splicewell & Self, for 2 Pence, 1 May 1793, serial number 1061, promising to ‘pay Mr Jack Oackham or Bearer on Demand the Sum of Two Pence Value Received Town & County of Kingston upon Hull New Bank, with signatures of David Jones and Tom Natch Block, very good, very rare and a very early skit note, of unknown origin or purpose, but certainly something to do with the French revolution and the war declared on Britain by France on the date the note was ‘issued’ on
