This medal is variously attributed to Adolphe Rivet or the Austrian medallist Anton Scharff for the Viennese brewer Karl Adolf Ludwig, Baron Bachofen von Echt who wanted to highlight the plight of the boers under British occupation - their tears turning to gold coins bound for the British Treasury.
