BELGIUM/FRANCE, Exposition Universelle, Brussels, 1910, a plated square bronze plaque by O. Yencesse for the Comité Français, seated figure of Belgium before a church portal presents naked winged Genius with a laurel branch, watched by a standing Marianne, rev. the Expo pavilion, arms of Brussels below, edge impressed bronze and with foundry mark, 68mm, 128.21g (Coll. The Exposition, dedicated to science, the arts, industry and trade, opened on 23 April 1910 but, despite 13 million visitors before it closed on 1 November, was a loss-making venture, partly because of a large fire which damaged the Belgian, French and British pavilions
