Le Parisien, originally titled Le Parisien libéré until 1986, was founded by former courier Émilien Amaury (1909-77) on 22 August 1944, its title reflecting the liberation of the city of Paris then underway. The medal commemorates the 10th anniversary of the newspaper and was awarded to its correspondents and staff
