Herbert Mills was born in Pimlico, London, and attested for the Highland Light Infantry. He served with the 2nd Battalion during the Great War on the Western Front from 27 August 1914, and was killed in action on 26 July 1915. He is buried in Woburn Cemetery, Guinchy, France.
