James Thomas B. Holland was born in Aberdeen around 1896 and attested for the 4th South African Infantry at Potchefstroom on 28 August 1915. Posted to France on 30 December 1915, he was later reported as a Prisoner of War on 24 March 1918. Repatriated on 8 December 1918, he was discharged at Maitland on 8 May 1919.

Johannes Jacobus Brand was born in the Cape Province around 1899 and attested for the 1st South African Infantry at Cape Town on 8 April 1918. Posted to the Western Front 25 August 1918, he was later discharged from the 4th Regiment at Maitland on 7 June 1919.

Stanley Thomas Cope was born in the Free State around 1896 and attested for the 4th South African Infantry at Potchefstroom on 31 August 1915. Posted to France on 6 August 1916, his papers note that he was declared a deserter by a Court of Enquiry held at Woking on 31 May 1918. He was later found by the military authorities. Repeatedly A.W.O.L. over the next few months, he was discharged at Maitland on 27 June 1919.

John Francis James was born in the Cape Province in 1898 and attested for the 1st South African Infantry at Cape Town on 26 April 1917. Disembarked at Havre on 21 October 1917, his overseas service was marred by nephritis and other illnesses. He was demobilised at Maitland in June 1919.
