Francis Aquila Chute was born in Kennington, London, and attested there for the Coldstream Guards. He served with them during the Great War on the Western Front, before transferring to the 4th Company, Machine Gun Guards, and then to the 4th Battalion, Guards Machine Gun Regiment, and died of wounds on 27 September 1918. He is buried in Grevillers British Cemetery, France.
