FRANCE, 25e anniversaire de la Compagnie Parisienne de Distribution d’Éléctricité, 1932, an Art Déco bronze medal by P.-M. Dammann for Arthus-Bertrand, facing female head with flame-like hair, rays behind, rev. female figure in cloak and long dress standing to right, rays from her outstretched hands pouring over the city of Paris, edge impressed bronze and with foundry mark, 64mm, 120.98g (Maier 319 [Sale, lot 1106]; BM Acq. 1978-82, pl. 54, 62; cf. Gadoury e8, 488; cf. iNumis Dec. 2017, 209; cf. DNW 187, 792). One of the classic Art Déco medallic images, extremely fine; in original maroon card box £80-£100

In order to unify and simplify the development of the electricity sector and its access in Paris, an agreement was reached in September 1907 between several concessionaires, whose work was consolidated with the founding of the C.P.D.E. in January 1914. The company ceased to produce electricity in 1930 and thence focused solely on its distribution
