Early Anglo-Saxon Period, Sceatta, Secondary series G Derivative [belonging to the Merovingian National Series] small head right with spiky hair and low diadem, legend around reading ‘oitvvwia’ rev. degraded standard containing four crosses and four pellets arranged around central annulet, 0.90g (cf. Abramson 1116 [for a similar derivative piece, apparently reading ‘pontic v’; MEC–; cf. S 800). Of somewhat base fabric, otherwise very fine, well struck up and extremely rare £300-£400
