Early Anglo-Saxon Period, Sceatta, Primary series W, type 54, full-length figure right, wearing helmet and tunic with pellet decoration (buttons?) down the centre, holding long-cross in each hand, celestial decoration within field, rev. cross-crosslet on saltire, 0.70g (cf. SCBI Abramson 153; Abramson 108-50, same obv. die as illustration; S 787). Light and of slightly base fabric, otherwise better than very fine and extremely rare £200-£260

This specimen is in far superior condition to that published in Sceatta List, allowing us to recognise the distinctive celestial decoration within the obverse field. In his March 2023 Additions, Tony Abramson published this specimen and designated it a new variety with the type number 108-60.
