British Iron Age, REGNI, Early Uninscribed issues, gold Quarter-Stater, Sills Insular type, crescent with appendages, ‘two men in a boat’, of crude style, rev. tree motif above central bar, 1.46g (Sills class 1, 460; ABC 530; VA –; BMC –; S 39A). Obverse struck from a worn die, otherwise struck on a flan of bright yellowish gold with coppery toning, very fine and very rare; likely the first Quarter-Stater made in Britain £200-£260
