G. Cottam Collection
Despite the absence of a decorative exergual pattern, this coin can be identified as belonging to the ‘Omo’ type due to the four-spoked wheel before the horse’s face. The Omo type is often seen with a wide range of unusual decorations, not seen in other similar Staters of the Durotriges. These decorations include, but are not limited to, irregular dashes, pellet triads and rings in the exergue, cross-hatching between the strands of the tail, fern shapes below the tail, and more. Many of these variations are seen throughout the Cottam collection.
