David Robert Chadwick was born on 17 November 1944 and attested for the British Army on 6 November 1962. He as commissioned Second Lieutenant in the Royal Artillery on 22 August 1968, and was promoted Lieutenant 24 August 1971. He resigned his commission on 14 November 1973.
