British Iron Age, BELGAE, Uninscribed issues, gold Stater, British D [Cheriton Smiler type], wreath split by three corded lines leading to ‘turf cutter’, rev. disjointed horse left, pellets above, three lines for tail, crab below, 5.23g/2h (Sills 314, class 2b [O7/R11]; ABC 755; BMC 86-7; VA 1215-1; S 24). A very attractive example of this type, a pleasing bold yellow gold and very fine, rare £500-£700
