Henry VII (1485-1509), Facing Bust issue, Groat, class IIIc, mm. anchor inverted, crown with inner arch plain, saltire stops, reads fra, rev. double saltire before civi only, cross-end 8, 2.82g/12h (SCBI Ashmolean 357 var. [legend]; Shuttlewood –; N 1705c; S 2199). Small flan split, about very fine, good portrait, grey toned £240-£300

Potter and Winstanley noted 29 coins in the national collection with cross-end and the anchor in the ‘normal’ position, but just 12 with it inverted. Of the twelve obverse dies represented in the Ashmolean Sylloge, none have the reading fra.
